With the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and the Met Gala 2026 taking place just mere days apart, May is turning out to be an embarrassment of riches for fashion lovers the world over. While we won’t spoil the outfits from DWP2, let us indulge in all the jaw-dropping looks that walked up the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum on May 2.
The dress code for the evening was “Fashion Is Art,” coinciding with the Costume Institute’s “Costume Art” exhibit, which invited A-listers to use their bodies as blank canvases for awe-inspiring designs that blended out-of-this-world sculptural forms with unconventionally whimsical textiles. The night’s co-chairs kicked things off with a bang: Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams wowed us with fancy feathers and shining crystals, while Queen Bey, who made her grand return to the Met after a decade, wore a shocking sheer, skeleton-inspired look designed by former Balmain Creative Director, Oliver Rousteing.
